SUMMER BASKETBALL CAMP

When:  Monday June 22nd through Thursday June 25th                       

Where:  Somonauk Middle School Gym (Entrance off of LaSalle St.)

Session 1:  Girls entering third, fourth and fifth grades                   9:00 AM-10:00 AM

Session 2:  Girls entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades            10:15 AM-11:30 AM

Cost:  Session 1                                                 $30 each camper will receive a camp shirt

           Session 2                                  $35 each camper will receive a camp shirt

·         Send completed forms and check to either the Middle School or JRW Offices by Friday June 5th

The purpose of  this camp is to give our athletes the fundamental basketball skills to compete at a higher level.  There will be daily competitions in which campers have the opportunity to win prizes.  At the end of the week campers will be  given a document stating their current skills and suggestions for  improvements.  A packet will also be handed out on drills that were worked on, in the camp.  The camp will focus on the following skills:

Ø  Defensive technique (one on one, denying the pass, help-side defense)

Ø  Shooting technique drills and instruction

Ø  Ball handling drills (double cross, protecting the dribble, dribbling with a purpose)

Ø  Passing Technique (bounce pass, pivot, receiving a pass, chest pass ect..)

Ø  Screening Technique (Receiving a screen, giving a screen and defending the screen)

Ø  Rebounding Techniques

Ø  Post Moves and Drills to enhance the post player’s  effectiveness facing the basket and/or with her back to the basket               **Please detach below the line                                                                       

As the parent/guardian of _______________________, I hereby give permission for my daughter to participate in camp and acknowledge the fact that she is physically able to participate in camp activities.  I further understand that any Bobcat School staff member of the Somonauk School Board and School personnel of District #432 will in no way be held liable for any accident and/or injury occurred at camp.
