Curriculum
The following areas are included in first grade
instruction.
Language Arts
- Listening
- Speaking
- Reading
- Writing
- Phonics
- Spelling
Math
- Our math instruction includes Saxon Math. This
program
includes the use of hands on manipulatives , daily instruction, and
daily
homework.
Social Studies/Science
- Individual units will be taught in these areas
throughout
the year.
- These units are integrated with Math and Language
Arts
and will include a wide range of topics.
- Current Events will be taught through the use of
weekly
children's news magazines.
- Science lessons will be taught through
multi-sensory,
hands-on and process orientated approach.
Art/P.E./Music
- Instruction will be provided in these areas on a
regular
basis.
